The HSE Dublin and North East region is recruiting an Assistant Director of Nursing (Stiúrthóir Altranais 1, Cúntóir) to lead and develop Community Intervention Team (CIT) services across the Integrated Health Areas of Dublin North County and Dublin North City & West. Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong clinical and professional leadership across Community Intervention Team services within the designated Integrated Health Areas.
- Manage and support nursing staff in the delivery of safe, effective, person-centred community care.
- Oversee patient caseload management, ensuring timely assessment, care planning, and discharge in line with CIT protocols.
- Promote and maintain high standards of nursing practice, governance, and quality improvement across services.
- Collaborate with hospital teams, primary care networks, and integrated care partners to facilitate early supported discharge and prevent avoidable admissions.
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and professional development for nursing staff within the team.
- Contribute to service development, policy implementation, and performance monitoring as required by HSE Dublin and North East.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, HSE policies, and professional regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Registered nurse on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Hold a post-registration management qualification in nursing or healthcare management, or have demonstrable equivalent experience at a senior nursing management level.
- Significant post-registration nursing experience, with a substantial period at Clinical Nurse Manager or equivalent grade.
- Proven experience of leading nursing teams and managing clinical services in an acute or community setting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of community care models, integrated care pathways, and early discharge programmes.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary and inter-agency structures.

Salary
€72,843 – €85,485 per annum (Assistant Director of Nursing, Band 1 Hospitals, 9-point scale). One Long Service Increment (LSI) of €89,894 is payable after three years on the maximum point. Salary is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026 (DoH Circular 2/2026).

The post is based within the Integrated Health Areas of Dublin North County and Dublin North City & West, under the HSE Dublin and North East region. Community Intervention Team services operate across both urban and suburban areas of north Dublin, with the postholder working across multiple community settings as required.
