Grounds Manager — Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, Harold’s Cross

Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services is seeking an experienced Grounds Manager to join its facilities team on a permanent, full-time basis at its Harold’s Cross campus in Dublin. This is a hands-on leadership role offering a stable public-sector career with competitive pay on the HSE Maintenance Foreman scale.

About the Role

The Grounds Manager will take responsibility for the overall management, maintenance, and presentation of the grounds and outdoor environments at Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services. Working within the Non-Clinical Services directorate, the successful candidate will lead a grounds team and ensure that the campus is maintained to the highest standard — befitting one of Ireland’s leading specialist hospice and palliative care centres.

This is a permanent wholetime post, graded at Maintenance Foreman level (Grade Code 5061) in line with the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of all grounds, gardens, and outdoor spaces across the hospice campus.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise grounds maintenance work including grass cutting, planting, pruning, path and surface maintenance, and seasonal upkeep.
  • Lead, supervise, and support the grounds team, allocating work and monitoring performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and relevant organisational policies in all grounds activities.
  • Liaise with the Director of Non-Clinical Services and other facilities personnel to coordinate works and minimise disruption to hospice operations.
  • Manage equipment, materials, and contractors engaged for grounds-related work.
  • Maintain records and reports as required by management.

Requirements

Candidates should refer to the full job specification available via the Rezoomo link below for detailed eligibility criteria. In general, applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

  • Relevant experience in grounds maintenance or a related outdoor/facilities management role.
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements in a grounds or estates context.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage workloads and priorities effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A full, clean driving licence (desirable).

Salary

€53,954 – €56,471 per annum (HSE Maintenance Foreman scale, Grade 5061, 12-point scale, PAYPATH). LSI: €56,930. Salary is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026. Starting point will be at the minimum of the scale unless prior service applies. Pay is pro-rata for part-time hours.

Location

Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services is based in Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W — a well-connected residential area on the south side of the city with excellent public transport links. The hospice campus is a nationally significant care environment, providing specialist palliative, rehabilitation, and older person care services.
