About the Role
As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide specialist assessment, intervention, and clinical leadership within HSE Mid West community services. The post covers paediatric caseloads across Primary Care Networks in the Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary areas. You will work as part of integrated multidisciplinary teams, contributing to service development and clinical governance, and mentoring less experienced staff as required. A high level of clinical knowledge and commitment to evidence-based practice are essential to this role.
Key Responsibilities

- Carry a clinical caseload and deliver evidence-based speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to paediatric clients across community settings
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and inter-agency teams to plan and deliver integrated care
- Apply specialist clinical knowledge and clinical reasoning to complex presentations, adapting interventions to meet individual client needs
- Contribute to service planning, development, and quality improvement initiatives within HSE Mid West Community Healthcare
- Provide clinical supervision, support, and education to staff grades, students, and other disciplines as appropriate
- Maintain accurate clinical records in compliance with HSE and professional standards
- Engage in continuing professional development and maintain CORU registration
- Participate in audit, research, and evaluation activities to enhance service delivery
Requirements and Qualifications

- Hold a recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and be currently registered with CORU (or eligible for registration)
- Hold a minimum of three years’ post-qualification clinical experience, with demonstrable experience in paediatric speech and language therapy
- Demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge and commitment to evidence-based practice in line with the duties of a Senior Speech and Language Therapist
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Have a full, clean driving licence and access to appropriate transport (community setting)
- Demonstrate the competencies required under the HSE’s values framework: Care, Compassion, Trust, and Learning
Salary
€65,197 – €75,506 per annum (HSE Speech and Language Therapist, Senior scale — Grade 3379 — 9-point scale, effective 1 June 2026). The final point on the scale (€76,767) is also available. Salary is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026 per DoH Circular 2/2026. Where the post is filled on a part-time basis, salary will be paid pro-rata to hours worked.
Location
The post is based across HSE Mid West community services in Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary. Services operate across Primary Care Networks serving the region, with the postholder working in community and primary care settings. Specific base location will be confirmed on appointment. The role involves travel across the catchment area; a full, clean driving licence is required.
Contract Type
Multiple contract types are available: Permanent Wholetime, Permanent Part-time, Specified Purpose Wholetime, and Specified Purpose Part-time. Candidates should indicate their preferred contract type on application.
