Role Overview
HSE Mid West is recruiting a Medical Scientist at Staff Grade (Biochemistry) for University Hospital Limerick (UHL), HSE Mid West Acute Services. One permanent whole-time vacancy is currently available in the Biochemistry Laboratory. A panel may be formed from this campaign to fill current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies, of full or part-time duration, across HSE Mid West. 2026 graduates are eligible to apply.
⚠️ Internal/External Eligibility: This competition is open to all applicants — both HSE and non-HSE candidates are eligible to apply. The WRC Agreement 161867 eligibility restriction does not apply to this campaign.

Requirements

Salary
Medical Scientist, Staff Grade – Grade Code 3875 (for those in post at 1 January 2024 and new appointees from that date), effective 1 June 2026:
€43,674 – €46,126 – €47,286 – €48,391 – €51,003 – €52,714 – €54,484 – €56,333 – €58,212 – €60,106 – €62,034 – €63,975 – €65,939 – €67,847 – €69,159
A Long Service Increment (LSI) applies to this grade beyond the top of the standard scale. Salary is pro-rated for part-time hours where applicable. Source: HSE Consolidated Pay Scales, DoH Circular 2/2026, effective 1 June 2026.
