County Sligo Races CLG (T/A Sligo Races) is seeking an experienced Racecourse Manager to lead Sligo Racecourse, a modern, well-developed facility in the heart of Sligo Town staging a minimum of nine race meetings annually. This is a rare executive opportunity to shape the future direction of one of Ireland’s well-established regional racecourses.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Board, the Racecourse Manager joins at executive level with significant autonomy to develop and execute a strategic vision for Sligo Racecourse. This appointment follows the planned retirement of the current Racecourse Manager and represents an opportunity to build on a track record of strong financial management and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation, monitoring and control of race day activities
- Oversight of capital projects and development works at the racecourse
- Promotion of Sligo Races locally and nationally to maximise race day attendances
- Supporting the Board through reporting, planning and implementation of agreed priorities
- Nurturing and developing relationships with key stakeholders, including race day participants, support staff, sponsors, patrons and race industry bodies
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety and all relevant regulatory requirements
Requirements and Qualifications
- Adaptable and flexible approach to working around a scheduled racing calendar
- Excellent organisational, communications and technology skills
- Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, live race day environment
- Proven capability in financial management, building on Sligo Races’ existing robust financial controls
- Professional, personable and positive manner when engaging with stakeholders
- A relevant third-level qualification and prior management experience in racing, hospitality, events management, or a comparable environment is advantageous
Salary
€60,000.00–€90,650.20 per annum, reflecting the experience and skills of the successful candidate.
Location
This is an on-site role based at Sligo Racecourse in Sligo Town, County Sligo. The racecourse serves a substantial hinterland and is deeply embedded in the local community, with the successful candidate working from a modern facility that has seen significant development in recent years.
Contract Type
Full-time, permanent.
