  • Carry out comprehensive psychological assessments for children and adults with intellectual disability, including those presenting with behaviours of concern, mental health difficulties, and dementia
  • Design and implement evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to individual need, drawing on appropriate therapeutic frameworks including positive behaviour support
  • Provide specialist psychological support for resilience development and related programmes
  • Contribute actively to multidisciplinary team care planning, case reviews, and programme evaluation

  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and research initiatives within the Kerry Services team

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A recognised psychology qualification meeting the requirements for the Senior Clinical Psychologist grade (HSE grade 367Y)
  • Eligibility for registration (or current registration) with CORU as a Psychologist
  • A minimum of three years’ post-qualification clinical experience, with demonstrable experience in intellectual disability or a closely related field
  • Proven experience in psychological assessment and intervention with individuals presenting with behaviours of concern and/or mental health needs
  • Knowledge of positive behaviour support frameworks and current evidence-based psychological models
  • Experience of clinical supervision and/or staff training delivery is desirable
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Full clean driving licence desirable

Salary

€100,483 – €110,963 per annum (HSE Psychologist, Senior Clinical scale, 367Y, 6-point scale), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. Long Service Increments of €114,536 and €118,111 apply after qualifying service.

St. John of God Community Services CLG is a Section 38 organisation. Salary and terms of employment are expected to align with the HSE reference scale; however, candidates are advised to confirm the exact terms and conditions with the recruiter prior to accepting any offer.

Location

This position is based in Co. Kerry, within the St. John of God Kerry Services network. The role involves working across community settings in the Kerry area, supporting service users in their local communities.

Contract Type

Permanent, Wholetime (1.0 WTE).
