Cork University Hospital is recruiting a Speech and Language Therapist, Clinical Specialist to join Disability Services within HSE South West. This permanent whole-time opportunity offers an experienced Speech and Language Therapist the chance to provide advanced specialist clinical leadership, deliver high-quality assessment and intervention, and contribute to the ongoing development of disability services for service users across the region.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will provide expert clinical assessment, treatment planning and evidence-based interventions while supporting multidisciplinary teamwork and service development. The Clinical Specialist will play a key role in improving outcomes for people accessing disability services through advanced clinical practice, education, quality improvement and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions.
- Provide clinical leadership within Disability Services.
- Support multidisciplinary working to ensure person-centred care.
- Contribute to service planning, audit, quality improvement and governance initiatives.
- Provide supervision, mentoring and professional support to colleagues where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with HSE policies and professional standards.
Requirements
- Eligible for appointment as a Speech and Language Therapist, Clinical Specialist with the Health Service Executive.
- Meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the official HSE Job Specification.
- Demonstrate significant postgraduate clinical experience relevant to Disability Services.
- Excellent communication, leadership and multidisciplinary team-working skills.

Salary
€72,119 – €83,689 per annum (HSE Speech and Language Therapist – Clinical Specialist Grade 3025 salary scale, 9-point scale, based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026).
Location
This position is based at Cork University Hospital, Cork, within HSE South West Disability Services. The successful candidate will work in a specialist clinical environment supporting the delivery of high-quality disability services while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the region.
