The Integrated Care Programme for Older Persons (ICPOP) Cork is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Gerontology to join its multidisciplinary team on a permanent whole-time basis. This specialist nursing role offers an opportunity to improve integrated care services for older people across Cork while supporting high-quality, person-centred clinical care within the HSE South West region.
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide expert clinical leadership in gerontology, supporting the delivery of integrated care for older persons across community and healthcare settings. Working within the Integrated Care Programme for Older Persons (ICPOP), the successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to improve patient outcomes, enhance service integration, and promote best practice in specialist nursing care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist clinical expertise in gerontology.
- Support integrated care pathways for older people.
- Provide clinical leadership, education and guidance to healthcare professionals.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across acute and community services.
- Promote evidence-based practice, quality improvement and patient-centred care.
- Contribute to service development initiatives within the ICPOP programme.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as required for the post.
- Meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the official Job Specification.
- Demonstrate appropriate clinical experience in gerontology and integrated care.
- Possess excellent communication, leadership and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
Salary
€62,699 – €76,921 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) Grade 2632 salary scale, 11-point scale, plus Long Service Increment where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. As this role is with a publicly funded organisation rather than directly with the HSE, terms and conditions may differ from standard HSE employment arrangements, although the HSE-aligned pay scale applies.
