The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland’s national health service, delivering healthcare services to over 5 million people across the country. We are seeking a dedicated Catering Attendant to join our team in Sligo on a permanent full-time basis, contributing to the essential food services that support patient care and staff wellbeing.
About the Role
As a Catering Attendant with HSE West and North West, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality food services across our healthcare facilities in Sligo. This permanent full-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to patient care while working in a supportive healthcare environment with opportunities for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals to patients, staff, and visitors following strict hygiene and safety protocols
- Maintain clean and sanitary food preparation and service areas in compliance with HACCP standards
- Assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation under supervision of senior catering staff
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers, ovens, and food storage units
- Support inventory management and stock rotation to ensure fresh, quality ingredients
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to accommodate special dietary requirements and patient needs
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and HSE catering policies
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Completion of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) training certification
- Minimum of recent experience working in a large-scale catering organization within the past four years
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene protocols
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in healthcare or institutional catering
- Food handling certification or culinary training
- Knowledge of special dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines
- Experience with large-scale food service equipment and systems
