About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team at Mayo University Hospital, with a specific focus on practice-based education and training. This role combines clinical expertise with educational responsibilities, mentoring the next generation of physiotherapy professionals while delivering exceptional patient care across diverse clinical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment across a range of clinical conditions and specialties
  • Lead and coordinate practice-based education programs for qualifying physiotherapy students
  • Mentor and supervise physiotherapy students during clinical placements and rotations
  • Develop and implement educational curricula and training materials for student physiotherapists
  • Collaborate with academic institutions to ensure high-quality clinical education standards
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care planning
  • Maintain detailed clinical records and documentation in accordance with HSE standards
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice development
  • Support junior physiotherapy staff through mentorship and professional guidance

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent professional qualification
  • Current registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council)
  • Demonstrated experience in practice-based education of qualifying physiotherapy students
  • Evidence of continuous professional development in professional education and training
  • Extensive practice-based experience working with a diverse range of clinical conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for teaching and mentoring

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in physiotherapy or related healthcare field
  • Previous experience in senior physiotherapy roles within acute hospital settings
  • Experience with curriculum development and educational program design
  • Research experience or involvement in evidence-based practice initiatives
  • Leadership experience in clinical or educational environments
