Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is seeking a dedicated Social Care Worker to join our disability services team in Clarinbridge, Co. Galway. This permanent full-time position offers 78 hours per fortnight supporting individuals with disabilities in our community-based services.
About the Role
As a Social Care Worker with our disability services team, you will provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and live fulfilling lives in the community. You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in community settings
- Develop and implement person-centered support plans in collaboration with service users and families
- Assist with daily living skills including personal care, meal preparation, and household management
- Support individuals to access community services, social activities, and employment opportunities
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements
- Participate in team meetings, care planning reviews, and professional development activities
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and organizational policies
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Level 7 qualification in Social Care, Disability Studies, or related field (HETAC/QQI recognized)
- Registration with CORU (Social Care Workers Registration Board) or eligibility to register
- Minimum 1 year experience working with people with disabilities (preferred)
- Full clean driving license and access to own vehicle
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in disability services or community care settings
- Knowledge of person-centered planning approaches
- Training in autism support, behavior management, or specialized care techniques
- Familiarity with HIQA standards and regulations
- Additional certifications in manual handling, first aid, or medication administration
