The Health Service Executive (HSE) Dublin Midlands Hospital Group is seeking an experienced Consultant Physician specializing in Respiratory Medicine to join our dynamic medical team at Naas General Hospital. This is a specified purpose wholetime contract offering an excellent opportunity to work within Ireland’s national health service.
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Consultant Physician in Respiratory Medicine to provide specialist care at Naas General Hospital, Kildare. This temporary consultant position reports directly to the Clinical Director and General Manager, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to lead respiratory care services in a well-established hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory medicine consultation services for inpatients and outpatients
- Lead and manage complex respiratory cases including COPD, asthma, lung cancer, and sleep disorders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimal patient outcomes
- Participate in on-call duties and emergency respiratory medicine consultations
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Mentor and supervise junior medical staff and respiratory medicine trainees
- Engage in clinical research and evidence-based practice development
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent qualification in Respiratory Medicine
- Full registration with the Irish Medical Council
- Minimum 6 years post-graduate medical experience with specialist training in Respiratory Medicine
- Proven experience in acute and chronic respiratory disease management
- Current certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous consultant-level experience within the HSE or similar health system
- Experience in bronchoscopy and respiratory procedural skills
- Research experience and publications in respiratory medicine
- Leadership experience in clinical team management
- Additional qualifications in sleep medicine or interventional pulmonology
