We are currently seeking compassionate and skilled Staff Nurses to join our relief team in Westmeath, providing essential care in our residential services.
About the Role
As a Relief Staff Nurse with Muiriosa Foundation, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities to achieve their personal goals and live independently. This flexible position offers varied shifts across our residential services in Westmeath, perfect for nurses seeking diverse experience in disability care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to individuals with intellectual disabilities in residential settings
- Support residents in achieving their personal care goals and maintaining their independence
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement person-centered care plans
- Administer medications safely and maintain accurate nursing documentation
- Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with healthcare professionals when required
- Promote a safe, therapeutic environment that respects residents’ dignity and choices
- Participate in staff handovers and team meetings to ensure continuity of care
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Relevant nursing qualification (General or Intellectual Disability nursing preferred)
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities (preferred but not essential)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in residential or community disability services
- Knowledge of person-centered planning approaches
- Manual handling certification
- Additional training in intellectual disability care

This relief position requires flexibility to work across various shift patterns:
- Day shifts
- Weekend duties
