The Health Service Executive (HSE) West and North West is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 2 to serve as Person in Charge for our Disability Services in Sligo/Leitrim. About the Role
Join our dedicated team as Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Person in Charge) where you’ll provide clinical leadership and management oversight for disability services across Sligo and Leitrim counties. This senior nursing role combines hands-on patient care with strategic management responsibilities, making a real difference in the lives of people with disabilities and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and nursing management for disability services across assigned locations
- Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and person-centered care to service users with disabilities
- Manage and supervise nursing staff, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities
- Oversee compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate care plans with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, therapists, and social workers
- Monitor quality improvement initiatives and implement best practice guidelines
- Maintain accurate clinical records and reporting systems
- Liaise with service users, families, and external healthcare providers
- Manage resource allocation and budget responsibilities for assigned services
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification nursing experience in relevant clinical area
- Previous management or supervisory experience in healthcare setting
- Full driving licence (mandatory requirement)
- Strong clinical knowledge in disability services or related field
- Understanding of HSE policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in nursing management or related field
- Experience working specifically in disability services or intellectual disability care
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and care approaches
- Experience with clinical audit and quality improvement processes
- Leadership training or management development certification
