We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Ballytobin, Kilkenny, offering a permanent part-time position with meaningful career opportunities.

About the Role

As a Support Worker with Brothers of Charity Services Ireland, you will provide person-centered support to individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and maintain independence. This Care Assistant role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives while working within a supportive, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities
  • Assist with personal care needs including mobility, personal hygiene, and medication administration
  • Support individuals in developing life skills and maintaining independence
  • Implement individual support plans and contribute to care planning processes
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with organizational policies
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, therapists, and family members
  • Ensure a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for all service users

Required Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification
  • Experience working with people with disabilities or in a caring environment (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to provide personal care support
  • Garda vetting clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Full driving license (desirable)

Preferred Qualifications

  • QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support, Disability Studies, or related field
  • First Aid certification
  • Experience with person-centered planning approaches
  • Knowledge of disability rights and best practices
  • Previous experience in residential or community-based disability services
