We are seeking a dedicated Care Assistant to join our Intellectual Disability Services team in Cavan, Monaghan for a permanent wholetime position.
About the Role
As a Care Assistant in our Intellectual Disability Services, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Cavan and Monaghan area. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management
- Implement individual care plans and support programs under professional supervision
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports for each client
- Support clients in developing independence and life skills through structured activities
- Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment for all service users
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and family members
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Full driving license with access to personal vehicle for transportation
- Relevant experience in care, healthcare, or disability services (preferred but not essential)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to person-centered care and respect for individual dignity
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and shift patterns
- Physical fitness to assist with manual handling and mobility support
Preferred Qualifications
- QQI Level 5 certification in Healthcare Support, Disability Studies, or related field
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities
- First Aid certification
- Understanding of safeguarding and protection policies
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in care environments
