Wexford General Hospital is seeking an experienced Associate Specialist in Medicine to join its acute hospital services. This is a senior clinical role focused on delivering high-quality patient care within a multidisciplinary hospital environment. The position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants with relevant Irish or UK medical experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver consultant-led medical care under agreed clinical governance structures
• Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
• Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and on-call rotas as required
• Contribute to clinical audits, service development, and quality improvement initiatives
• Supervise and support junior medical staff where appropriate
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
• Adhere to HSE policies, clinical guidelines, and patient safety standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Primary Degree in Medicine
• Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)
• Evidence of IELTS or OET compliance where applicable
• Previous Irish or UK medicine experience (essential)
• Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland at the time of appointment
