Role Overview
As Cardiac Physiologist Chief II, you will hold a senior position within the cardiac diagnostics service at Mayo University Hospital, providing expert technical and clinical leadership across the full range of cardiac investigations. The role demands demonstrable depth and breadth of post-qualification experience in cardiac diagnostics, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred cardiology services.
Key Responsibilities

- Perform and oversee advanced cardiac diagnostic procedures, including echocardiography, exercise stress testing, ambulatory monitoring, and pacemaker/ICD follow-up
- Provide senior clinical and technical leadership within the cardiac physiology department
- Support the training, supervision, and clinical development of junior cardiac physiology staff
- Ensure all diagnostic procedures are carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient care
- Contribute to service planning, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental policy development
- Liaise closely with cardiology consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team on patient management
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with relevant clinical governance frameworks
Requirements and Qualifications

Salary
€62,332 – €85,524 per annum (HSE Cardiac Physiologist, Chief II scale, 8-point scale, plus LSIs where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.
