Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in County Louth is seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to join its catering team on a permanent whole-time basis. This role plays a vital part in ensuring patients, staff, and visitors receive nutritious, appetising meals in a safe and hygienic environment.

The position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers long-term stability within a respected acute hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver wholesome, nutritious meals at ward level
• Support food service operations in the staff cafeteria
• Ensure meals meet patient dietary and nutritional requirements
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in ward kitchens
• Adhere to hospital policies and statutory food safety standards
• Assist with cleaning and sanitising catering equipment and work areas
• Work collaboratively with catering and clinical teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively in a healthcare catering environment
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility to work within hospital service requirements
• Previous catering or cleaning experience desirable but not essential

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Grade: Catering – Cleaner – Assistant (4111)
• Salary: In line with HSE consolidated pay scales (August 2025)
• Contract: Permanent whole-time
• Benefits include public service pension, annual leave, and paid training
