Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, is recruiting a Clinical Midwife Manager 2 (CMM 2) to lead and coordinate the Fetal Medicine Service across Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Cavan General Hospital. This is a permanent, whole-time Clinical Midwife Manager 2 post offering a senior leadership opportunity within one of Ireland’s busiest maternity services, working in close partnership with the Rotunda Hospital tertiary fetal medicine service.

About the Role
The post-holder will focus on the development, coordination and delivery of the Fetal Medicine Service across the maternity units at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Cavan General Hospital. The role acts as a senior clinical resource for women, families and multidisciplinary staff throughout what is often a deeply sensitive clinical pathway, and is central to ensuring a seamless, compassionate and high-quality service for women with complex fetal medicine needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, coordination and ongoing delivery of the Fetal Medicine Service at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Cavan General Hospital.
- Coordinate the review and referral pathway for women referred to the Rotunda Hospital for tertiary fetal medicine input.
- Act as a key clinical resource, providing information, support and continuity of care to women and families accessing the service.
- Provide midwifery expertise, mentorship and clinical support to staff working across both maternity units.
- Work collaboratively with obstetric, midwifery, neonatal and allied health colleagues to deliver an integrated fetal medicine pathway.
- Contribute to service improvement, audit, governance and the development of evidence-based standards of care.
Requirements
- Registration in the Midwives Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or be eligible for such registration.
- Significant post-registration midwifery experience, including experience relevant to fetal medicine, antenatal care, or high-risk maternity services.
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to midwifery, fetal medicine or maternity leadership.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership, coordination and decision-making skills within a maternity environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and family-centred care skills, particularly when supporting women and families through complex or distressing diagnoses.
- Ability to work effectively across sites and as part of a multidisciplinary, multi-hospital team.
Salary
€62,078 – €73,389 per annum (HSE Clinical Midwife Manager 2 scale, 11-point scale, plus LSIs where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026. Long-service increments of €76,159 and €78,443 apply where eligible.

The post is based at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Co Louth, with cross-site responsibilities at Cavan General Hospital and a formal referral relationship with the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin. Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is a major regional acute hospital within HSE Dublin and North East, providing maternity, neonatal, surgical and emergency services to a large population across the North East. Drogheda is well connected by motorway and rail to Dublin, Dundalk and the wider North East, offering an attractive base for senior midwifery professionals seeking a high-impact leadership role outside of a Dublin city centre setting.
