An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Surgical) at Portiuncula University Hospital, Ballinasloe. This role is ideal for an experienced surgical nurse seeking to lead clinical teams while maintaining the highest standards of patient care within a busy acute hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead, manage, and support nursing staff within the surgical services
• Ensure high-quality, patient-centred care in line with HSE policies
• Coordinate clinical activities and effective staff deployment
• Promote evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement
• Supervise clinical standards, audits, and risk management processes
• Support staff development, mentoring, and performance management
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Nurse on the NMBI Register
• Minimum of 5 years post-registration nursing experience
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in surgical nursing
• Proven leadership and clinical management capability
• Strong communication, organisational, and decision-making skills
• Commitment to professional development and quality improvement
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary Scale (CNM1 – Point 1 to 8): €56,642 – €66,705 per annum
• Salary in accordance with HSE Consolidated Pay Scales (effective 1 August 2025)

• Full-time, specified purpose contract
