University Hospital Kerry is seeking applications for a permanent whole-time Clinical Nurse Manager 2 to lead nursing services within the Emergency Department and Acute Floor. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to take on a key leadership role within one of the HSE South West’s busiest acute hospitals, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred emergency care.
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) will provide professional and clinical leadership within the Emergency Department and Acute Floor, ensuring safe, effective and efficient patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing nursing staff, promoting clinical excellence, supporting service improvement initiatives and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day clinical and operational leadership within the Emergency Department and Acute Floor.
- Lead, supervise and support nursing staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, professional standards and best practice guidelines.
- Promote patient safety, quality improvement and continuous service development.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care to achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Support workforce planning, staff development, education and performance management.
- Participate in clinical governance, audits and quality assurance activities.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the official HSE Job Specification.
- Demonstrate significant clinical nursing experience with leadership and management capability.
- Possess excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills.

Salary
€62,699 – €76,921 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Grade 2119 salary scale, 10-point scale, plus Long Service Increment where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.
Location
This position is based at University Hospital Kerry, Tralee, County Kerry, within HSE South West. The successful candidate will play an important leadership role in supporting emergency and acute hospital services across the region while contributing to the delivery of safe, responsive and high-quality patient care.
