Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 will play a key role in coordinating and managing nursing services for elderly patients aged over 75 presenting with frailty-related issues across emergency and acute medicine pathways at Mayo University Hospital. The successful candidate will support clinical excellence, patient safety, service improvement, and effective team leadership.
This nursing management role requires strong clinical judgement, effective communication skills, and demonstrated experience managing complex patient care within emergency and acute hospital environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate nursing care delivery within the Home First Elderly Medicine service.
- Support elderly patients presenting with frailty issues in emergency and acute care settings.
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
- Promote patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based nursing practice.
- Assist with service planning, patient flow management, and operational coordination.
- Support the implementation of integrated elderly care pathways.
- Maintain high standards of documentation, communication, and clinical governance.
- Participate in staff development, mentoring, and performance management activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Nurse qualification with active registration relevant to the role.
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of post-registration nursing experience.
- Proven nurse management experience within emergency and acute medicine settings.
- Experience managing care for elderly patients with frailty-related conditions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
