West Kerry Community Hospital is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) to lead nursing care within its Older Persons Services. This specified purpose, wholetime post offers an experienced nurse manager the opportunity to shape high-quality, person-centred care in a community hospital setting on the scenic Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry.
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 will provide professional leadership and day-to-day management of nursing services within the Older Persons unit at West Kerry Community Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and improving standards of patient care, supporting the nursing team, and contributing to the effective operation of the ward and facility. This is a meaningful leadership role within HSE South West, serving a community hospital with deep ties to the local population of West Kerry.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional and clinical leadership to the nursing team within the Older Persons Services unit.
- Oversee the planning, organisation, and delivery of nursing care to a high standard in line with HSE policies and evidence-based practice.
- Manage staffing, rostering, and resource allocation to ensure safe and effective care at all times.
- Act as a key point of contact for patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Support the ongoing professional development of nursing staff and contribute to a positive learning environment.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing care delivery, implementing quality improvement initiatives as required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, national guidelines, and HSE operational policies.
- Liaise with the Director of Nursing and other senior staff on service planning and operational matters.
Requirements

- Registration as a nurse on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by NMBI, with a relevant division appropriate to this post.

- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

Salary
€62,699 – €79,227 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (General) scale, Grade 2119, 11-point scale, plus Long Service Increments where applicable). Salary is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.
