Galway University Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 3 (CNM3) to lead and develop nursing services within the Emergency Department. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for strategic service delivery, patient safety, and team performance in a fast-paced acute care environment.

The role is offered on a fixed-term, whole-time contract and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for nursing services in the Emergency Department
• Ensure high standards of patient care, safety, and clinical governance
• Lead workforce planning, rostering, and staff development
• Manage quality improvement initiatives and service performance indicators
• Oversee clinical risk management and compliance with HSE policies
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and senior hospital management
• Support education, research, and evidence-based nursing practice
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Register – General Division
• Significant post-registration experience in acute or emergency nursing
• Proven experience at senior nursing management level (CNM2 or equivalent)
• Demonstrated leadership, change management, and decision-making skills
• Strong knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety, and quality frameworks
• Excellent communication and team leadership capabilities
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 3 salary scale (August 2025 rates): approximately €70,725 – €79,872 per annum, depending on experience
