Job Overview
This Clinical Nurse Manager II position is based in Aras Mhic Dara Community Nursing Unit, Carraroe, Galway, within HSE West and North West. The role focuses on delivering high standards of nursing care for older people while supporting governance, safeguarding, rostering, and clinical leadership responsibilities.
The post holder will also deputise for the Director of Nursing/Person in Charge when required and contribute to the ongoing development of safe, person-centred residential care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and healthcare staff within the residential care setting.
- Support the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care for older persons.
- Undertake the Safeguarding Delegated Officer role within residential care services.
- Assist with staff rostering, resource management, and service coordination.
- Deputise for the Director of Nursing/Person in Charge in their absence.
- Promote best practice standards in gerontology and older people services.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Contribute to staff mentoring, professional development, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Nurse qualification with active NMBI registration.
- Demonstrated professional experience across the Clinical Nurse Manager II scope of nursing in Gerontology or Older People Services.
- Recent experience in nursing care of older persons within the last six years.
- Irish language comprehension is essential for this role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work flexibly in relation to rostering arrangements.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and residential care standards.
- Access to appropriate transport to fulfil the requirements of the role.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary will be aligned with the HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 2 pay scale (Grade 2119).
