Job Overview

This is a specified purpose whole-time position with Galway University Hospitals operating under HSE West and North West.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate specialist renal nursing services relating to anaemia management, mineral bone disease, and virology programmes.
- Provide advanced clinical leadership and support within the renal multidisciplinary team.
- Monitor and evaluate patient care pathways to ensure high standards of clinical practice.
- Support the implementation of evidence-based nursing interventions and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, nursing staff, consultants, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Participate in service planning, policy development, and audit activities within Renal Services.
- Contribute to staff education, mentoring, and professional development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Significant post-registration nursing experience relevant to renal services.
- Demonstrated specialist renal nursing experience in anaemia management, mineral bone disease, and virology coordination.
- Strong clinical leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Experience in clinical audit, quality improvement, and service development is desirable.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within a busy acute healthcare environment.
