Galway University Hospitals is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Colorectal Cancer Care to deliver expert, evidence-based nursing across the colorectal and gastroenterology cancer pathway. This specialist role plays a vital part in patient-centred care, service development, and multidisciplinary collaboration within oncology services.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver specialist nursing care to patients with colorectal and gastroenterology cancers
• Act as a clinical expert resource for patients, families, and the MDT
• Coordinate and support patient pathways from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up
• Provide education, health promotion, and psychosocial support to patients and carers
• Contribute to service evaluation, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in research and the implementation of evidence-based practice
• Support nurse-led clinics and advanced clinical decision-making
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and data reporting
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Nurse on the NMBI Register (General Division)
• Recognised post-registration qualification relevant to colorectal or cancer nursing
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Colorectal/Gastroenterology Cancer Care
• Evidence of ongoing professional development at postgraduate level
• Have undertaken or agree to undertake Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products
• Have undertaken or agree to undertake Nurse Prescribing of Ionising Radiation
• Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: €61,463 – €77,666 per annum (CNS General scale, point dependent)
• Working Hours: Wholetime, in line with HSE roster requirements

• Salary and conditions are in accordance with Department of Health Consolidated Pay Scales
