Sligo University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist (Diabetes) to deliver expert, patient-centred diabetes care within a dynamic acute hospital environment. The Clinical Nurse Specialist Diabetes Sligo role is ideal for an experienced nurse passionate about specialist diabetes management and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialist assessment, planning and delivery of diabetes care
• Support early intervention and evidence-based diabetes management
• Deliver patient and family education programmes
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and audit processes
• Act as a clinical resource for nursing and medical colleagues
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered General Nurse with active NMBI registration
• Relevant postgraduate qualification in diabetes care or related specialty
• Minimum experience requirements as outlined in the official job specification
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in diabetes management
• Strong communication and patient education skills
• Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary will align with the Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) Grade 2632 scale under the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025 revision)
