Cork University Maternity Hospital is recruiting a permanent part-time Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist (Pelvic Health) to lead and develop specialist pelvic health physiotherapy services at one of Ireland’s leading maternity and women’s health centres. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to take ownership of a specialist clinical area within HSE South West, driving evidence-based practice and contributing directly to patient outcomes across the region.

Role Overview

As Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Pelvic Health, you will provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with complex pelvic floor and women’s health conditions. You will act as the senior clinical resource in your specialist area, supporting the wider physiotherapy team through mentorship, clinical supervision, and continuing professional development. The role also carries a research and audit remit, with an expectation that you will contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives within Cork University Maternity Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist pelvic health physiotherapy assessment and treatment to a defined patient caseload.
  • Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and supervision to physiotherapy colleagues within the team.
  • Lead on service development, audit, and quality improvement activity within the pelvic health specialism.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of education and training programmes for staff and students.
  • Engage in research activity and apply evidence-based practice to all aspects of clinical care.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless, patient-centred pathway of care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with HSE and professional standards.

Requirements

Candidates must hold the qualifications, skills, and experience required for the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist grade as specified in the job specification for post CUMHE97545. Please download and read the full Job Specification carefully before applying. Both HSE and non-HSE applicants are eligible to apply for this open competition.

Salary

€72,119 – €82,428 per annum, pro-rata (HSE Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist scale, 9-point scale). The final point of €83,689 represents the Long Service Increment (LSI), applicable in accordance with HSE terms. Salary is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. As this is a part-time post, pay is pro-rata to contracted hours.

Location

Located on the Wilton campus in Cork city and operating under HSE South West, CUMH serves a large regional population and works closely with Cork University Hospital and academic partners. This position is based on-site at CUMH and offers the opportunity to develop a specialist service within a high-volume, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
