An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to join Mental Health Services Cork North, delivering high-quality, recovery-focused psychiatric care. This senior role offers clinical leadership within multidisciplinary teams and the chance to shape adult mental health services across the region.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
• Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team decision-making
• Deliver evidence-based care in community and inpatient settings
• Participate in service development, governance, and quality improvement
• Supervise and mentor NCHDs and other clinical staff
• Engage in on-call and rota commitments as required
• Contribute to teaching, audit, and research activities
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Specialist Register of the Irish Medical Council (Psychiatry)
• Eligibility for appointment as Consultant Psychiatrist under HSE criteria
• Proven experience in General Adult Psychiatry
• Strong leadership and clinical governance skills
• Excellent communication and collaborative working abilities
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: In line with HSE Consultant Psychiatrist pay scales (as revised 1 August 2025)
• Contract: Permanent Wholetime
• Hours: 37 hours per week
• Benefits include public service pension, annual leave, CPD support, and paid professional leave
