Job Overview
Mental Health Services Donegal is seeking an experienced Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to provide senior clinical leadership within community and multidisciplinary mental health teams. This is a prestigious consultant-level role offering the opportunity to shape adult mental health services across the Donegal region. The position combines clinical excellence, service development, and leadership within the HSE West and North West region.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
• Lead and support multidisciplinary community mental health teams
• Deliver high-quality, recovery-focused care to adult service users
• Participate in service planning, clinical governance, and audit
• Supervise and mentor NCHDs and other clinical staff
• Contribute to on-call and emergency psychiatric services as required
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, Mental Health Act requirements, and best practice standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Specialist registration on the Irish Medical Council Register in Psychiatry
• Eligibility for appointment as Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist
• Demonstrated leadership and clinical governance experience
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
• Experience working within community mental health services
• Right to work in Ireland

• Salary in line with HSE Consultant Psychiatrist pay scales (August 2025 rates apply)
