The Health Service Executive is seeking a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to join Mental Health Services in Kildare and West Wicklow. This permanent, whole-time consultant post offers an opportunity to lead high-quality general adult psychiatric services within a multidisciplinary community mental health setting. The role combines clinical leadership, service development, and teaching within a progressive public health system.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-led assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with mental health conditions
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance structures
• Deliver high standards of patient-centred, recovery-focused psychiatric care
• Contribute to service planning, development, and quality improvement initiatives
• Supervise and support NCHDs and other clinical staff
• Participate in on-call and rota arrangements as required
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, Mental Health legislation, and best practice standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Specialist registration with the Irish Medical Council in Psychiatry (General Adult)
• Eligibility to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist within the Irish public health system
• Demonstrated experience in general adult mental health services
• Strong leadership, clinical governance, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working abilities
• Commitment to continuous professional development and teaching

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist salary in line with Department of Health Consultant pay scales (1 August 2025)
