Job Overview
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for two Consultant Physicians in Geriatric Medicine to join a progressive consultant-led service based primarily at Mayo University Hospital, with regional clinical responsibilities across the HSE West & North West. These senior appointments offer the chance to shape and lead high-quality geriatric services within a multidisciplinary, patient-centred model of care.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver consultant-led specialist geriatric medical care
• Lead inpatient and outpatient geriatric services
• Contribute to service development across acute and community settings
• Participate in multidisciplinary team working and care planning
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and teaching
• Engage in audit, quality improvement, and governance activities
• Support integrated care pathways for older persons
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in Geriatric Medicine (or eligibility to register)
• Proven consultant-level experience in Geriatric Medicine
• Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
• Commitment to patient-centred, evidence-based care
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary in line with Department of Health Consolidated Consultant Pay Scales (effective 1 August 2025)
