Role Overview
The HSE invites applications for a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in Breast Radiology to support the delivery of high-quality breast screening, assessment, and diagnostic imaging services across the Western Region. The post-holder will work collaboratively across BreastCheck Western Unit and University Hospital Galway, contributing to clinical excellence, multidisciplinary care, and service development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level breast imaging services including screening, assessment, and diagnostic radiology
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance activities
- Contribute to quality assurance, audit, and continuous service improvement
- Support education, training, and supervision of junior medical staff where appropriate
- Comply with HSE, BreastCheck, and hospital policies, standards, and clinical guidelines
Eligibility Criteria
- Registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in Radiology (or eligibility for same)
- Demonstrated experience and specialist interest in breast radiology
- Eligibility to work in Ireland
- Compliance with HSE credentialing and appointment requirements
Salary & Benefits
- Salary in accordance with the Consultant Radiologist (118X) scale under Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, effective 1 August 2025, including agreed public service pay adjustments
