The Health Service Executive is recruiting Counsellor / Therapist professionals for the National Counselling Service within the Dublin and South East Health Region. These roles support individuals and families through high-quality, evidence-based counselling services across community settings. A regional panel will be formed to fill current and future vacancies on a full-time or part-time basis.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Provide professional counselling and therapeutic interventions aligned with National Counselling Service standards
• Conduct comprehensive client assessments and develop appropriate care plans
• Deliver individual and group therapeutic sessions as required
• Maintain accurate clinical records and reports in line with HSE policies
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
• Adhere to ethical, professional, and legislative requirements
• Participate in supervision, continuous professional development, and service evaluation
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Recognised qualification in counselling, psychotherapy, or a related therapeutic discipline
• Eligibility for relevant professional registration/accreditation
• Demonstrated experience in delivering counselling or therapeutic services
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and assessment skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to ethical practice and continuous professional development
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Counsellor / Therapist (National Services) – Code 3028
• Salary: In line with HSE consolidated salary scales (August 2025)
• Contract types: Permanent, Fixed Term, and Specified Purpose (full-time and part-time)

• Working hours vary depending on post and service needs
