About the Role
Bantry General Hospital is seeking a dedicated Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Candidate) to join its Local Injury Unit (LIU). This permanent, full-time role represents an exciting opportunity to advance your clinical expertise within a progressive multidisciplinary environment in West Cork. Successful applicants will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care, contributing to the continued development of advanced nursing practice in unscheduled care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment within the scope of advanced nursing practice.
- Manage and coordinate care for patients presenting to the Local Injury Unit, ensuring efficient patient flow.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and patient safety.
- Collaborate with consultants, medical staff, allied health professionals, and nursing colleagues.
- Maintain and update professional competencies in accordance with NMBI ANP Candidate standards.
- Contribute to audit, research, and education within the specialty.
- Support the implementation of HSE and hospital clinical governance frameworks.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered in the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Eligible to undertake or currently enrolled in a Master’s in Advanced Practice (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, including 3 years in the relevant specialty.
- Proven ability to work independently and exercise advanced clinical decision-making.
Desirable
- Experience within an Emergency Department, Urgent Care, or Local Injury Unit.
- Evidence of leadership, innovation, and research in clinical practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Candidate, General) – Code 2272:
