Job Overview
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner Candidate Paediatrics role at Cork University Hospital offers a permanent wholetime opportunity within a leading acute hospital setting. This position supports the development of advanced clinical expertise in paediatric nursing while delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to children and families.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will progress towards full Advanced Nurse Practitioner registration, contributing to service development, clinical leadership and improved patient outcomes in paediatric services.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced, patient-centred nursing care within paediatric services.
- Assess, diagnose, plan and implement care in line with agreed clinical guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
- Support service development initiatives to enhance paediatric care delivery.
- Participate in audit, research and quality improvement activities.
- Provide education and mentorship to nursing colleagues and students.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with HSE policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a Nurse on the live register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Meet eligibility criteria for Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Candidate (General) Grade Code 2272.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in paediatric or related specialty area.
- Minimum clinical experience as required under HSE guidelines for ANP Candidate roles.
- Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and communication skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and advanced practice progression.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Candidate (General) 2272.
- Salary Scale (effective 1 February 2026): €71,432 – €80,671 per annum (pro-rata where applicable), in line with HSE consolidated pay scales.
- Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime.
