Job Overview
The Advanced Specialist Pharmacist Cork position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and develop pharmaceutical services within Assisted Human Reproductive Services (AHR) at Cork University Maternity Hospital. This senior clinical role focuses on delivering expert medication management, governance, and patient-centred pharmaceutical care in a highly specialised reproductive healthcare setting.
This permanent HSE role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers the opportunity to contribute to a progressive, multidisciplinary maternity service in the HSE South West region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced specialist pharmaceutical care within Assisted Human Reproductive Services.
- Lead on medication safety, governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, nursing, and laboratory staff.
- Develop and implement clinical pharmacy protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
- Support service development, audit, and research initiatives within AHR services.
- Provide expert advice on complex medication regimens and reproductive pharmacotherapy.
- Supervise and support pharmacy staff as required.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).
- Significant post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy practice.
- Demonstrated expertise in specialist clinical pharmacy services.
- Experience in women’s health, fertility, or reproductive services is desirable.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to clinical governance, audit, and continuous professional development.

- Salary aligned with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales for Pharmacist – Advanced Specialist (Grade 3250), in accordance with public sector pay policy and February 2026 adjustments.
