Job Overview
The Assistant National Director Dublin role offers a unique opportunity to contribute at senior leadership level within the Office of the Chief Clinical Officer. This high-impact national position plays a critical role in shaping strategic direction, governance, and service improvement across the health service.
This campaign will fill one permanent whole-time vacancy currently available at Dr Steevens Hospital, with a panel formed for future permanent and specified purpose vacancies nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior strategic leadership within the Office of the Chief Clinical Officer
- Support implementation of national clinical strategies and service reforms
- Oversee governance, performance management and quality assurance frameworks
- Collaborate with senior executives, clinical leaders and operational teams
- Drive organisational change initiatives aligned with national health priorities
- Ensure compliance with public sector governance and regulatory standards
- Represent the Office at national forums and stakeholder engagements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Significant senior management experience within a large, complex organisation
- Demonstrated leadership in healthcare, public service or related sectors
- Strong governance, financial oversight and performance management expertise
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strategic thinking with a proven ability to deliver large-scale programmes
- Relevant third-level qualification (postgraduate qualification desirable)

- Salary aligned with Grade 0509 Assistant National Director (Services) scale in accordance with Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (February 2026)
