The HSE is inviting applications for the role of Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Acute Oncology/Haematology at University Hospital Waterford (UHW). This is a permanent wholetime position within the HSE Dublin and South East region. The successful candidate will support the specialist nursing service for oncology and haematology patients in an acute setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert nursing care to oncology and haematology patients in line with HSE standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide patient education, treatment coordination, and continuity of care.
  • Participate in audit, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Support service development and contribute to the ongoing improvement of oncology nursing within UHW.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with An Bord Altranais.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, including relevant oncology or haematology exposure.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and patient advocacy skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and clinical excellence.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) – Grade Code 2697.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Salary Scale (as of 1 August 2025): €61,463 – €77,666 per annum (11 points, plus LSI)
  • Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime.
