Job Overview
This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist multidisciplinary team as a Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist (cCNS) in Intellectual Disability services within Dublin South and Wicklow. Based within the ÉIST (Evaluation & Intensive Support Team), the role focuses on supporting individuals with complex health needs, promoting wellbeing, and driving evidence-based care. The position offers strong career progression toward full Clinical Nurse Specialist level.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and complex needs
- Support service users with dual diagnoses and behavioural challenges
- Deliver evidence-based interventions and health promotion initiatives
- Act as a clinical leader within the multidisciplinary team
- Provide mentorship, supervision, and support to nursing and clinical staff
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
- Advocate for service users and promote person-centred care
- Implement best practice guidelines within disability services
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse or Intellectual Disability Nurse with relevant board registration
- Specialist knowledge in intellectual disability services and complex care needs
- Experience supporting individuals with dual diagnoses and behavioural challenges
- Strong understanding of evidence-based practice and health promotion
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and supervisory skills
- Experience in service development and quality improvement
- Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork abilities
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €62,078 – €78,443 (as per HSE pay scale, including incremental progression and LSI opportunities).
Working Hours: Permanent Wholetime position.

Location & Employer Information
This role is based within the ÉIST (Evaluation & Intensive Support Team), aligned to Southside Intellectual Disability Services and Adult Community Disability Services. The primary base is Hawthorns, with a secondary base at Bray Civic Centre, covering Dublin South and Wicklow.
The service operates within a community-based model, supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities across diverse settings while contributing to the ongoing development of regional disability services.
