University Hospital Waterford is recruiting a Catering Assistant (Supplementary Campaign) to support high-quality food service delivery across the hospital. This permanent wholetime role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants under campaign reference 25UHWS0212.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation, plating, and delivery of meals to patients and staff
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and infection control
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and in line with training
• Follow all HSE food safety policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Support stock rotation, waste management, and kitchen organisation
• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary catering team
• Complete assigned tasks in accordance with daily service schedules
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in catering, hospitality, or a similar support role (hospital experience desirable)
• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong teamwork, communication, and customer-focused service skills
• Reliability, attention to detail, and adherence to health & safety procedures

• Salary in accordance with HSE General Support Pay Scale (Grade 4123 – Catering Assistant)
