Job Overview
The Catering Officer Grade I – Letterkenny University Hospital role offers an excellent opportunity to lead and support catering services within a busy acute hospital setting. This permanent whole-time position plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient food services to patients, staff, and visitors.
Working as part of the catering management team, you will contribute to maintaining high standards of hygiene, nutrition, and service delivery in line with national healthcare guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily catering operations within the hospital
- Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP, and hygiene regulations
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and service standards
- Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination
- Support staff supervision, training, and performance management
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with HSE policies
- Assist in implementing service improvements and quality initiatives
- Ensure adherence to health and safety procedures at all times
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Catering, Hospitality, or Food Service Management
- Experience in a supervisory catering role, ideally within healthcare or large-scale catering
- Strong knowledge of food safety legislation and HACCP standards
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage teams and work effectively under pressure
- Commitment to high standards of service delivery
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €57,898 – €70,734 per annum (LSIs applicable).
