The Clinical Midwifery Manager II Galway role at Portiuncula University Hospital offers an exciting leadership opportunity within a dynamic maternity department. This position plays a vital role in supporting midwives in clinical practice, promoting evidence-based care, and enhancing professional development within maternity services.
This is a Fixed Term Wholetime or Permanent Wholetime opportunity within HSE West and North West, open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and expert support to midwives within the maternity department
- Maintain and develop evidence-informed educational programmes
- Support clinical supervision, mentoring, and act as an expert resource for midwifery staff
- Integrate simulation-based learning into teaching strategies and remain current with advancements
- Promote best practice standards in maternity care
- Demonstrate strong planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills to meet deadlines
- Support staff midwives through accessibility, engagement, and structured guidance
- Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Current registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Proven clinical experience working with midwives in maternity practice
- Competence in clinical skills required to support maternity services
- Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and mentoring
- Strong commitment to professional development and continuous education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Leadership experience in a maternity or acute hospital setting is desirable
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €62,078 – €78,443 (LSI applicable)
Contract Type: Fixed Term Wholetime or Permanent Wholetime
