University Hospital Limerick, part of the HSE Mid West region, is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 1 to lead our specialized Catheterization Laboratory team. About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic Clinical Nurse Manager 1 to oversee nursing operations within our state-of-the-art Catheterization Laboratory at University Hospital Limerick. This leadership position involves managing specialized cardiac procedures, coordinating with interventional cardiology teams, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care in our advanced cardiac intervention unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage nursing staff within the Catheterization Laboratory, ensuring optimal patient outcomes during cardiac procedures
- Coordinate complex cardiac interventions including angiography, angioplasty, and specialized catheterization procedures
- Develop and implement evidence-based nursing protocols specific to catheterization laboratory procedures and cardiac care
- Manage staffing schedules, resources, and equipment for the Cath Lab to ensure seamless operations
- Collaborate with interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive cardiac care
- Ensure compliance with cardiac care standards, infection control protocols, and specialized equipment safety procedures
- Mentor and develop nursing staff in advanced cardiac intervention techniques and catheterization laboratory protocols
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 3 years post-registration nursing experience with demonstrated cardiac care expertise
- Previous experience in catheterization laboratory, cardiac catheterization, or interventional cardiology settings
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience supervising nursing teams
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and interventional cardiology procedures
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in Cardiac Care, Critical Care, or Nursing Management
- Previous experience as Clinical Nurse Manager or in cardiac nursing leadership roles
- Specialized training in catheterization laboratory procedures and cardiac intervention techniques
- Experience with cardiac monitoring equipment and catheterization laboratory technology
- Knowledge of HSE policies and procedures related to cardiac care services
