Galway University Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Galway to provide clinical and professional leadership within the Paediatric Medical & Surgical Ward. This senior nursing role offers the opportunity to shape paediatric inpatient and day services while supporting education, quality improvement, and service development within a leading acute hospital.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and operational management within the Paediatric Medical & Surgical Ward
• Support, supervise, and develop nursing staff, students, and multidisciplinary colleagues
• Ensure high standards of patient care, safety, and governance
• Lead and support clinical education, facilitation, and student assessment
• Participate in service development initiatives across paediatric services within the hospital
• Contribute to audit, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice
• Support internal rotation where appropriate, based on service needs and skill set


Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registration as a Nurse on the NMBI Register
• Significant post-registration experience in Paediatric Nursing
• Demonstrated leadership and management experience at senior clinical level
• Experience supporting staff development and clinical education
• Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills
• Flexibility in working hours to meet service and operational requirements


Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary Scale (Clinical Nurse Manager 2): €61,463 – €77,666 per annum (HSE consolidated pay scales, point dependent)
