Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 St Luke’s Hospital opportunity offers an exciting leadership role within the Medical Surgical services at St. Luke’s General Hospital Carlow Kilkenny. This permanent whole-time position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting nursing staff and driving clinical excellence.
Reporting within the HSE Dublin and South East region, the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 will oversee ward operations, ensure best practice standards, and contribute to service improvement initiatives within a dynamic acute hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional and clinical leadership within the Medical Surgical unit.
- Coordinate and manage daily ward operations to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Support, supervise, and mentor nursing and healthcare staff.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and national clinical standards.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
- Manage resources effectively, including staffing, budgeting, and rostering.
- Contribute to service planning, audit processes, and continuous professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration on the NMBI register.
- Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, including relevant acute hospital experience.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
- Strong clinical knowledge in Medical Surgical nursing.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary Scale (February 2026): €62,078 – €78,443 (LSI) per annum, aligned with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales.
