Job Overview
Mayo University Hospital is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Clinical Nurse Manager 3 to lead and manage the Intensive Care Unit. This senior leadership role is central to delivering high-quality, patient-focused critical care services within a busy acute hospital environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise, strategic leadership, and a commitment to excellence in patient outcomes and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide clinical and professional leadership within the Intensive Care Unit
• Manage and coordinate nursing services to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care
• Lead workforce planning, staff supervision, and professional development
• Promote quality improvement, audit, and adherence to national standards
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
• Ensure effective governance, risk management, and resource utilisation
• Support service development aligned with hospital and HSE objectives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
• Extensive post-registration nursing experience in an Intensive Care Unit within an acute hospital setting
• Higher or Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Critical Care Nursing
• Proven leadership and people-management skills
• Strong communication, decision-making, and organisational abilities
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary scale (Clinical Nurse Manager 3 – effective 1 August 2025): €70,725 – €79,872 per annum, depending on experience
