Job Overview
This Clinical Nurse Manager II Galway opportunity within the Outpatients Department at Portiuncula University Hospital offers an exciting leadership role within a busy acute hospital setting. The successful candidate will provide professional and clinical leadership to nursing staff while ensuring high standards of patient-centred care.
As a Clinical Nurse Manager II in Galway, you will play a vital role in the effective management of outpatient services, supporting service delivery, quality improvement, and patient safety within the HSE framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and professional leadership within the Outpatients Department.
- Ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care in line with HSE policies and standards.
- Manage nursing staff, including rostering, supervision, and performance management.
- Promote evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Oversee patient flow and service coordination across outpatient clinics.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient outcomes.
- Contribute to policy development, audit, and service planning activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Significant post-registration nursing experience.
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of post-registration experience in nursing practice and the workings of an outpatient department.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary Scale: Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Grade 2119) €62,078 – €78,443 (LSI) per annum (as per February 2026 HSE Consolidated Pay Scales).
- Permanent Wholetime position (39 hours per week).
